The Favourites to Win Euro 2024
First, let’s start with the favourite to take home the Euro 2024 trophy. Most statisticians and many leading bookmakers have pegged England as the team to beat. Despite a poor run-in and a vastly inexperienced squad, the team is favourite to win the European Championship for the first time. Heartbreak last time around “could” be bettered this year, but you always get that nagging feeling that the Three Lions will choke. Theoretically, their group is the easiest, but you can never be sure with banana skins lying everywhere.
The bookies say that if there is one team that will stop England in their tracks, it’ll be France. We’d concur. In fact, at Gamesbelt, we’re throwing national pride out of the window. We strongly think Les Bleus have what it takes. Aside from England, France is the only other favourite at selected bookies.
Euro 2024’s Surprise Sides
There may only be two favourites to win Euro 2024, but there are definitely some surprise sides worth keeping an eye out for. Of course, Germany has been rotten to the core over the last few years, but never count out Die Mannschaft, especially when they’ve got the entire country roaring them on as hosts. They are the bookie’s third favourite to win, followed closely by Spain and Portugal, both of which are slowly putting together exciting squads.
If you fancy an outside bet that offers decent returns but still has a reasonable chance of success, then you should put your money on the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium. Admittedly, these would be long shots, but they aren’t under or overpriced, indicating that it’s not insane to back them.
Outside Punts for Glory
Now, if you fancy throwing your money down on something far riskier, there are some decent prices available for Denmark, Croatia and Turkey. Another team to watch is Austria. It might sound bizarre that Ralf Rangnick’s Austria would triumph, but this is the tournament for surprises. Denmark and Greece have both pulled off shocks over the last thirty years. Greece was at 500:1 at one point to win in 2004, so it can be done.
Having a flutter on any of these sites would return a more than reasonable return this summer. However, if you’re going to look beyond those sites, the probability of success compared to the amount you can win starts to look one-sided.

A bet on England should be worth around 3:1, while France should be close behind on 4:1. Getting Germany for 5:1 would be fair value, while taking a punt on Spain or Portugal should see you offered odds of 6s to 8s or thereabouts. Italy and the Netherlands are fanciful at around 14 to 18:1. Having a flutter on Belgium at 20:1 isn’t insanity. That’s a fair price.
As for the rank outsiders, getting odds of 33:1 for Croatia, 40:1 for Denmark, and anything from 66 to 80:1 for Austria would be right on par. If you really fancy a wild bet and you want to go with the lowest-ranked teams, Albania and Greece, you should be looking at odds of 500:1. This has happened with Greece before.
