I’m not the world’s biggest craps player. In fact, I don’t know many online casino pros that are fans. Craps not having quite the same pull as roulette and blackjack games do is represented by the fact that there are fewer instances of this live game online. Much fewer. In fact, in all my years playing live titles, I’ve only come across two worthy of merit – and both come from the same provider.
Don’t let that put you off, though. I’ve given live craps games a run for their money on many occasions, and now I’m ready to shoot my mouth off about them. While it may not be the world’s most popular live table game, there are still plenty of reasons to enjoy the game, as I’ll explain right here.
The Basics: What Is Live Craps?
Live craps is, of course, the live-streamed version of the famous casino dice game. If, like me, you’ve had a flutter at the craps table before, you’ll know well enough that you’re betting on what will (or won’t) crop up on a pair of dice once rolled. There’s a significant number of betting options for you to familiarise yourself with, and this is easily going to be something of a pain for beginners.
Fortunately, I’ve got some advice for you – play RNG craps games for free. By doing that, you’ll gain experience in how the many different betting options in craps work. You can then take that knowledge to the live craps table with you when you’re ready to bet for real.
In my years playing the game (often with gritted teeth, admittedly), there are a few things I’ve learned:
- Most craps games contain number histories, tutorials and other beginner’s tools. Live craps games from Evolution even feature an Easy Mode to help you get started.
- Craps is a pure game of chance. You can’t use strategy to influence the results.
- There aren’t many variants out there. What you see is very much what you get with craps.
- Live craps games tend to appeal to US players more than others.
- If you like craps, you may also like some of its counterparts, including other dice-based games such as Sic Bo. More on that in a moment.
I also have a word of warning for the newbies amongst you. Craps (in all its forms) require a bit of a learning curve. Don’t worry – it just takes time. You won’t understand what Come / Don’t Come, Prop Bets, Pass / Don’t Pass Lines, Place Bets and other options mean. But by playing free craps demos, and taking your type watching others play craps, you’ll soon pick it up.
In my experience, playing live craps is all about perseverance. Stick with it and you’ll get there. It may be tempting to just check out and opt for roulette, but once you get it sussed, there is suitable excitement to be had from this dice game.
Types of Live Craps Games – Explained
It isn’t just live dealer craps games that tend to come up short in the online casino world. Have a look at the number of RNG craps games at your favourite casinos. I’ll bet that there aren’t many of those, either. Fortunately, this isn’t much of a problem when it comes to playing live craps games online. While both games come from a single developer (Evolution), the two titles that have been made available are crackers. Here’s what to expect:
Live Craps | Live craps is one of the few craps games available as a live table game. The basic game features tutorials, dynamic statistics, and easy mode (for beginners), as well as a series of more complicated betting options for those of you with more experience. |
First-Person Craps | The only live craps game online can also be played as one of Evolution’s First-Person titles. This game allows you to chop and change between live dealer and RNG versions of the same title. Personally, I think this is the best option for beginners or those just starting out. |
As you can see, there isn’t much to choose from. It’s slim pickings when it comes to live craps games. Now, a moment ago, I mentioned that craps has some counterparts that you might want to consider. If you enjoy dice-based games but craps isn’t your forte, then don’t hesitate to check out Evolution’s other array of games, including Bac Bo, Sic Bo, and Football Studio. These work slightly differently, but the divergence in variance and gameplay could just be what you need. We’ll go over those titles in turn in our other Gamesbelt live casino game reviews.
Discover Top Live Craps Casino Software Providers
While it is entirely possible that some far-flung, fledgling developers might get their hands dirty and produce so-so craps live games, none of the major, established top-tier live casino software providers have done so bar one – Evolution.
There are currently two titles that you can find in their range. By and large, they are mostly the same, except one of them allows you to switch the gameplay from live-streamed video to an RNG experience. Here’s what you can expect to see in their library:
Evolution | First-Person Craps, Live Craps |
Obviously, that doesn’t leave us much to work with. Even so, I spent the time rolling those bones and exploring what they had to offer players, so let’s see how that panned out next.
Play the Most Popular Live Craps Games
As I’ve kind of stressed throughout this guide, things come up a little short when it comes to software providers dishing out live craps games. In fact, only one of the many live casino software providers out there has put together a craps package for you. That’s Evolution. So, we’re going to have to stick to their games when it comes to recommending titles to you.
Live Craps by Evolution
The world’s most famous and popular craps live game, Evolution’s Live Craps, has a classy speakeasy theme and is a fast-paced title. You’ve got all manner of traditional craps bets to deal with in this game, but I find that it’s ideal for beginners for a few very good reasons. You can switch over to Easy Mode, which features fewer betting options.
You can also select a Tutorial Mode that allows you to learn how to play the game before you bet on it. Other added features include quick re-betting with your own specialised numbers and dynamic statistics, which can be used to bet for anybody who believes in the power of numbers. I don’t – I believe in probability. If you’re different, though, fill your boots with those added features.
First-Person Craps by Evolution
My personal recommendation for those who are new to craps is to ignore the first game (which is tailored more towards pros) and choose First-Person Craps instead. This has also been developed by Evolution. However, the game has a First-Person mode. Like other games in this series, it allows you to jump from a live-streamed game to the RNG version at any time you see fit. If you find that the game is becoming too realistic and all that realism is too much for you, you can slow things down by diving straight out of the action into the RNG game. It’s a nice addition, especially when there aren’t many other craps games out there to choose from.
My Favourites – Recommended Live Craps Games
This is normally the time when I’d be showcasing my own personal favourites and top-five picks. Of course, there isn’t much in the way of titles to choose from, but here’s what the professional experts at Gamesbelt think:
- The Best (and Only) Live Craps Game: Live Craps by Evolution
- Best Live Craps Game for Beginners: First-Person Craps by Evolution
Why Play Live Craps Online?
Given the lack of live craps games online (or any internet craps games, for that matter), it’s fair to say that there isn’t as much interest in live craps as there is in the other four out of five casino classics – baccarat, blackjack, roulette and poker. That said, there are still reasons why you might want to flock to the live craps table. Allow me to showcase some of the reasons why playing craps might be right down your alley. They include:
- There isn’t much in the way of diversity, so if you want to play live craps online, these two are your only real options.
- Craps is a pure game of chance, and that brings with it an added sense of risk and excitement.
- You can get surprising decent odds and rewards if you’re prepared to risk it with more adventurous dice bets.
- You don’t have to be the shooter to play craps. It is entirely possible for you to bet on someone else’s game.
- While you do need to learn the lingo and understand the types of bets available, you don’t need to understand strategy. There’s not much of that going on, making craps suitable for any beginners with a bit of patience.

Because live craps games are limited to Evolution casinos, if you want to play live craps online, then you’ll need to select an appropriate casino that offers titles from this software developer. Don’t worry; I’ve played at all of them, and most of Gamesbelt’s recommended live casino sites support them.
My advice is to check out our live casino reviews and choose a top site with a decent bonus and Evolution titles. After signing up as a newbie, you’ll be able to roll those bones and start calling the shots in live craps.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do all online casinos offer live craps?
Live craps is only available from one software provider. If you want to play this casino game online, you’ll need to choose Gamesbelt’s casinos that support titles from Evolution Gaming.
Can I play live craps in tournaments at online casinos?
Not normally. Live craps doesn’t typically feature in tournaments. Or rather, I haven’t seen it made available for players at any of the many casinos that I’ve covered.
Can I claim promos and bonuses on live craps games?
That depends on the site you join. There are live casinos out there that support live table game bonuses, and some of those may apply to Live Craps. Check our reviews for more information.
Can I wager on live craps with cryptocurrencies?
Absolutely. Evolution’s games are crypto-friendly, so you shouldn’t have any issues betting on its live craps games, at least with mainstream options such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Which craps game is best suited for newbies?
In my professional opinion, I’d opt for First-Person Craps. It’s got the same features as Live Craps, but the First-Person/RNG element is better suited to newbies.
Which are the best live craps casinos?
If you want to dive straight into the action with Evolution’s live craps games, then BitStarz Casino, Stake Casino, or BetFury’s live casinos should fit the bill rather nicely.
